One aspect of marketing I have yet to explore is the use of email. I would like to start sending out emails from my Pligg installs to all members informing them of news, top stories etc…
I know there is the module, Send Announcement, but it is limited. I want to send out HTML and text emails, and I need to know what people are doing with the emails when they receive them, for example, tracking if they click any of the links in the email.
I have been tempted to try the app over at iContact Email Marketing:
it appears to have everything you could need.
Needs:
- tracking of clicks
- unsubscribe option
- ability to use HTML
- not getting spam listed by ISPs
A full list of features can be found here…
The seem to have one of the better apps for email marketing, unfortunately, it would have to run seperate from the standard Pligg install.
They do provide a form you can use on your website, but it would be better if you could somehow take user users from your database and put it into the app, not sure if it is possible, but doesn’t appear to be at first glance.
Once I get ready and determine what content to include and create a HTML template, I will definitely signup for a FREE trial and give it a shot, if I get results, I will think about paying the $9.95 monthly fee. That fee is the starting fee, apparently it can go as high as $600 so clarification on that price is a must.
One other note, as I haven’t signed up for it yet, I don’t think its an app you download, it looks like you use it from their server, which is probably how they keep your emails from getting spam listed.
