With the recent events surrounding Pligg developers stealing code from another project in an attempt to save face, what will it’s future bring?
No visible development to Pligg since February, or since Ashdigg left, have had people questioning just what is going on over there. Ashdigg has resurfaced has the lead developer of Social Web CMS, a long with our good friend over at Social CMS Buzz, Lincoln Hawk.
The two have joined forced to bring a new Pligg forward. It is based on the latest version of Pligg, but thats where it ends, there system is far more secure and has active development going on. Their system is so far advanced from Pligg, thats why the current developers, Yankidank and Chuckroast, have been lifting code from it and releasing it in the newest version Pligg 9.9.5.
One prominent Pligg member, Dave Mackey owner of Informed Networker announced today his departure from the Pligg system and project. He will be moving to the Social Web CMS system and also helping the developers there move that project along. You can read about it here.
One has to wonder what does Pligg’s fate hold in store for it. Who will be the next developer to join the SWCMS project?
We here at Pliggs.com have already started to move in the same direction with our latest template being compatible with it. We have yet to decide what we will be doing in the future with regards to the Pligg system, but that will come at a later date.
For now, we will continue to produce templates for Pligg but we will also be active with SWCMS as well as we feel this is the next tier for Pligg users.
Will you be abandoning Pligg?
