Well, I have been working on my next template, and its a beaut. I started by getting the latest build from Pligg, 1530. I figured no point skinning an outdated build.
There are numerous changed from 9.9.0 to build 1530. The latest SVN Build uses “templatelite“, from what I understood prior to using it, it was a better templating system, perhaps I’m missing something but so far, it’s been a nightmare.
Pligg has decided to include additional templates it ported in the latest build. Below I have attached screenshots to show what I mean because its too hard to put into words.
Folder structure:

Templates folder:

all of these templates are pretty well crap, and have been around forever, my recommendation to Pligg developers would be to not port templates that are almost as old as the script.
Heres the yget folder:

All of the templates shown above use another folder called “core” for the template files:

Until you use it, its hard to know how much of a pain it is to have to bounce back and forth from the core folder to the yget folder when you are trying to design a new template.
I plan on deleting all of the other templates and sticking with yget, customized though.
My next template will be designed using this latest build, not sure how I will zip it up, but it’s almost finished, and I am sure you will enjoy.
Heres a tease:

As you can see in the last screenshot, there are some issues still with the base coding, I cannot find the file containing the character encodings, I believe previous versions had it located in libs/links.php or libs/html1.php. but this build doesn’t.
Anyone else working with this build?
This build is definitely not recommended for live use.
